Geriatric Orthopaedics

The term “geriatrics” relates to the medical treatment of elderly people, a difficult-to-define age category. Gerontology is the study of ageing, which includes changes in biology, society, and psychology. Although “older” is preferred to “elderly,” both phrases lack precision. From a chronological perspective, geriatric medicine (the study of the aged) begins at age 65.

Geriatric conditions, such as dependency in daily activities of life, cognitive impairment, falls, incontinence, low body mass index, dizziness, vision impairment, and hearing impairment (bathing, dressing, eating, transferring, toileting)
